Professor John Machado

John is the youngest of the five Machado brothers of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He began his training 40 years ago with them and his cousins, the Gracie family and received his black belt from Carlos Gracie Jr.

He dominated the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu circuit, winning every major competitive title from 1982 to 1990. In 1990 he also graduated from Rio Federal College receiving a degree in Environmental Farming.

After graduating, he competed three years later at the Pan American Games in Sambo competitions, becoming champion two consecutive years: 1993 and 1994.

John has had numerous movie and television roles such as:

John also had a role in the television series Walker Texas Ranger, as himself. John produced and starred in the Brazilian Brawl.

The following people were cast in his film: martial arts legend Dan Inosanto, acclaimed actor Geoffrey Lewis, musician Rikki Rockett and brothers Carlos Machado, Jean Jacques Machado, Rigan Machado, and Roger Machado.
